13th Street Rod Nationals - 1997 - Hawksbury, NSW.

Entrants started to arrive from Monday the 24th, but things started to really get going on the official 1st day (Thursday) with the start of registrations, an informal observation run to scenic Kurrajong nearby, and a twilight race meeting at the racecourse in the evening.
Good Friday was the drag day at Eastern Creek and for an y entrants wanting an alternative, there was Australia's Wonderland theme park nearby. (we chose to go to the drags and it was fantastic!)
Saturday was an open day to the public, and was well catered for with entertainment such as bands, engine blow-ups, rocker cover racing, an impromptu show and shine, lots of cruising, rides in rods and children’s entertainment.
Sunday was another big day, with the public streaming in to see the rods in action. They weren't disappointed, with more cruising, entertainment and rides in rods going all through the day. This was also the big day for the entrants prize draws, and in the evening the major draw for the 1932 Ford Roadster.
Monday was a wind down day, with a pancake breakfast, and a cruise to Australiana Village with over 100 rods attending. Macquarie Towns Hot Rod Club put on a BBQ on the Monday night for those who stayed on.
The combination of over 900 entries, excellent cruising roads in the showgrounds complex, excitement of the hot rod drags held at Eastern Creek on Friday, big crowds for the show 'n shine (estimated at 22,000 over the event) a god selection of trade stands, plus all the other attractions arranged for entrants, made the Hawkesbury Nationals a great street rodding event, and a credit to the organisers!
