Model Numbers

What are all the various model numbers?

The following information comes from the Chevrolet Restoration Pack so often discussed on the oletrucks list.

The wheelbase on the 3104 is 116" - there is not a listing for anything longer til you get to the 3600's which is shown to be 125.25".
The final two numbers are the same for all the lines of trucks. All the "02" are flat face cowl chassis models, etc.

The following number gets added to the above numbers, depending on the actual truck style.

NOTE: The above information applies to early '50s Advance Design Chevy trucks.

ADVANCE DESIGN TRUCK IDENTIFICATION

The serial number consists of a group of numbers and letters which indicate the assembly plant, the model year, the series, the month of assembly, and the number of units (plus 1000) assembled at that plant.

EXAMPLE - 3SKB19943

3-SK-B-19943 indicates that the truck was assembled at St. Louis.

  1949 model, Series 4400, built in February, and was the 19,943^rd truck of the 4400 series built at that plant.

NOTE 1: In my Chevrolet Truck Data Books, Model 2100 is listed as model 2000.
  I’m not quite sure which one is correct.
  I got model 2100 from the reference Chevs of the 40’s provided.
  If the is a mistake, please let me know.

NOTE 2: I don’t have a data book for the 1954-55 1^st series and am going by what Chevs of the 40’s lists.

Don't be surprised if it takes 10-15 calls to finally get through. Ask for a "Restoration Package" (it's free in the USA). They will want your Vehicle Identification Number and year for your truck. The restoration package they send includes complete engineering specifications for your year truck, and also a very long list of parts vendors for classic Chevys.

NOTE: The USA Restoration Pack will NOT give you specific information for your individual vehicle, but generic info for the model year of your truck.
