Bendigo Swap Meet 1999
18 November 1999
Prince of Wales Showgrounds, Holmes Road, BendigoI've tried to include some photos of of cars that are unique to Australia, like the utes, and some of the early model domestic market. This years Swap was as big as ever, with the entire oval now dedicated to sites, the display area has been moved to the hill on the east side of the showgrounds. A strong wind made for lots of dust on the Saturday, especially on the track and around the outside of the oval.
For those that don't know or haven't been to the Bendigo Swap before, it is an annual pilgramage for rodders and restorers alike. Bendigo is about 2 hours drive out of Melbourne on the Calder Highway. The swap meet is held at the Showgrounds which is main used for agricultural shows and also serves as a speedway. Until recent years this was Australia's biggest swap, there are literally sites packed in everywhere, but it has now reached capacity and there's just no more room for any more sites.
